WHAT DOES DUAL MEMBERSHIP MEAN?
National SHRM membership is now a requirement of having a FRSHRM membership, i.e., Dual Membership. If looking to be part of Fredericksburg Regional SHRM, you must be a member of both organizations.
WHEN DOES THE DUAL MEMBERSHIP PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN FRSHRM AND NATIONAL SHRM TAKE EFFECT?
The go-live date for this strategic initiative is January 17, 2023.
WHAT IS THE COST OF DUAL MEMBERSHIP?
FRSHRM annual dues will be $0. National SHRM dues are currently $229 per year, making the total cost $229 for Dual Membership through both organizations. Discounts are available for 2-year and 3-year memberships.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NATIONAL SHRM AND FRSHRM?
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a global professional society with over 300,000 members. SHRM is focused on empowering people and workplaces by advancing HR practices and maximizing human potential to build a world of work that works for all. They provide a comprehensive suite of resources, tools, and templates that are utilized on a daily basis to assist their members in delivering exceptional results for their organizations.
Fredericksburg Regional Society for Human Resource Management (FRSHRM) is the official SHRM affiliate/local chapter for people living, learning, and working in the Fredericksburg Regional area. FRSHRM provides our members with networking and educational opportunities to get connected at the local level with fellow HR professionals.
WHY DID FREDERICKSBURG SHRM MAKE THIS CHANGE?
- Simplification. Members can now be part of FRSHRM and SHRM National for a single price. One invoice, one payment, one renewal date. Members no longer have to keep track of two separate memberships, as they will be combined into one.
- A streamlined pathway to receive the benefits of a national organization linked with a local perspective and presence resulting in double the expertise.
- FRSHRM will now have access to nationally recognized speakers, giving our members high quality education opportunities.
- Via our alignment with National SHRM, credibility and strength in numbers will increase our effectiveness to represent HR professionals in the Fredericksburg SHRM area.
- Direct access to SHRM’s educational programs, services, toolkit and resources so that you can more quickly advance in your career or further your knowledge.

I AM A MEMBER OF FRSHRM, BUT NOT A MEMBER OF SHRM. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CONTINUE MY FRSHRM MEMBERSHIP?
It is important to note that anyone who is a current member of FRSHRM will remain a member until January 16, 2023. After this date, your membership will end, and you will need to become a member of SHRM national to continue being part of the Fredericksburg Regional chapter.
After January 17, 2023, you will have the option to create a new membership with SHRM, and “add on” the chapter membership to your national profile. Please check back for instructions coming soon.
You are more than welcome to become a dual member before January 16, 2023.
I AM A MEMBER OF SHRM, BUT NOT A MEMBER OF FRSHRM. HOW DO I JOIN THE LOCAL CHAPTER?
Those who currently have a membership with SHRM and are looking to join FRSHRM can “add on” the chapter membership to your national profile. To “add on” the local membership, you will pay a prorated amount that aligns to the expiration date of your existing SHRM membership.
I AM NOT A MEMBER OF SHRM OR FRSHRM. HOW CAN I BECOME A DUAL MEMBER?
Becoming a dual member is easy, as it is all captured in one transaction! After January 17, you will simply click here to join SHRM, and “add on” Fredericksburg SHRM chapter membership through the registration process.
I AM ALREADY A MEMBER OF SHRM NATIONAL AND FRSHRM (DUAL MEMBER) WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Nothing.
Your FRSHRM and SHRM memberships have been aligned through your SHRM membership profile. Thus, your expiration dates for both memberships are now the same (the dates are aligned to your SHRM national membership expiration). Whenever your SHRM membership is up for next renewal, you will renew both memberships at the same time.
I AM NOT AN HR PROFESSIONAL BUT WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF FRSHRM. WHAT DO I DO?
If you are not currently an HR professional but would like to be part of FRSHRM and connect with our members, we encourage you to join as a vendor. Vendors receive the same membership benefits as regular members but are not required to be a member of SHRM National.
